Artistic Director

Ride The Wave was founded in 2016 by Lucy Blake. Lucy trained at Birmingham University before studying physical theatre at Fourth Monkey. Working closely with others she met during her training, Lucy set up the company to continue her love of devised physical theatre.

Based in London, Ride The Wave has worked with over thirty artists over the last 3 years to develop and produce its work.

Alongside theatre-making, Blake has been acting professionally since 2016.

Past Productions

My Friend, My Partner

Our debut production was a scratch performance - all in mime - about the nation's love affair with alcohol. Devised and performed by Lucy Blake and William Townsend (Pleasance StageSpace, January 2017).

After a year of extensive development, our second production was the story of a photographer told he has EOD. Starring Peter Bottley, Ruth Newbery-Payton, Lucy Blake and Jonathan Hawkins (Pleasance MainStage, Feb 2017)

My Friend, My Partner

Reworked for a run at the Camden Fringe, Blake and Townsend brought My Friend, My Partner back to life to share their story about the nation's relationship with alcohol, adding puppetry to tell many others' stories (Camden Fringe, August 2018).

Our latest production sold out at the Camden Fringe and had many asking of its return. Directed by William Townsend, this was a physical exploration of climate change (Camden Fringe, August 2019).
